The community of Aiken, South Carolina, is mourning the disappearance of Javeayah Harris, the 4-year-old girl who vanished from her family home in Aiken County on June 30. Authorities said she was last seen near Hillsboro Street and Ridgecrest Road at about 8:15 p.m. Javeayah was wearing pink Minnie Mouse pajamas, had pink beads in her braided hair, and may have been wearing Crocs. She is described as 3 feet 6 inches tall, about 42 pounds, and a child who loves Minnie Mouse and chasing chickens.
What began as a local missing-child report has quickly grown into a large, multi-agency search. Law enforcement officers, federal agents, aviation teams, and professional search crews have combed through more than 3,000 acres in and around the neighborhood. Investigators have gone door to door, searched wooded areas, and used helicopters and drones while asking nearby residents to inspect their own property carefully for any place a child might hide or become trapped.
Officials have confirmed that the FBI is assisting on the ground with analytical and child-search resources, underscoring how seriously the case is being treated. Sheriff Sawyer has said the goal remains bringing Javeayah home safely, and that the search will continue until there are answers. At the same time, no AMBER Alert has been issued because the current facts do not satisfy the legal requirements for one, a detail that has drawn public attention as concern grows across South Carolina.
For now, Javeayah Harris remains missing, and the case remains one of the most urgent active investigations in Aiken County. Anyone who has seen her or knows anything that could help investigators is urged to call 911 or the sheriff’s office tip line at (803) 502-5200.
